Celebrations is excited to be partnering with a few high schools in the area to liven up this spring’s prom festivities. In 2010, CDG was hired by Penncader Charter School for a trip to Paris, la ville de lumiere. Rome was the theme for Glasgow High School. Salesianum High School stays tried and true to the school colors of blue, yellow and white. Creative details are in the works for Penncaders 2011 theme of: ‘What Happens in Vegas…’ on May 20th; in addition to unique ways to design with blue, yellow and white for Sallies on May 28th.

Philadelphia International Flower Show

In the few remaining days of the Philadelphia International Flower Show Tom Covello and the Celebrations Design team were honored with the award for Best Achievement for Interpretation. This award is the second consecutive win for Celebrations Design Group. Tom Covello was also honored with the distinction of being a judge for the tabletop arrangement in the competitive class. Tom was also chosen for an everyday floral designer showcase, in which Tom live-designed on the spot while answering questions and explaining design features. This is the third consecutive year that Celebrations Design Group has participated in the Philadelphia International Flower Show. The show will continue to run until Sunday March 13th. Vamping up for the Flower Show

The time has come, setup week for the Philadelphia International Flower Show! Amidst the whir of forklifts and skid-loaders and the arrival of flowers, our very own Tom Covello sat down with 6ABC for an interview. Tom also has several interviews throughout the week across the tristate area. The Flower Show opens March 6th and runs until the 13th. Be sure to stop by and enjoy our exhibit. Brick by brick, Jacob spent the summer before his April Bar Mitzvah building with his Legos® that would be crafted into centerpieces for the guest tables. Running on Jacob’s cherished hobby, Celebrations created an entire Bar Mitzvah around Legos®; from place cards to the sign in book to the centerpieces.

Celebrations Design Group’s resident elves spent the past few weeks decorating for the holidays, including decorating Harry’s Savoy Grill on Naamans Road, pictures with Mr. & Mrs Claus at the Concordville Inn, and the Winter Wonderscapes at Chase Center on the Riverfront for a corporate event. Here’s a tip from one of our elves!

How to light your Christmas tree- tips from a professional elf:
Foremost, always illuminate your tree with the lights plugged in. This gives you the best sense of your light coverage.
Start at the bottom of the tree and work your lights in to the center trunk, in and out of each branch.
DO NOT wrap the lights in a circular fashion just on the outer branches.
Lighting the full branch, all the way to the trunk, will give your tree additional depth and allow the ornaments to be appreciated in a more festive fashion.

Wondrous Waterfall Open House

On a beautiful October evening, Waterfall Banquet and Conference Center opened their doors to spotlight their unique venue, sample their menu and highlight their wedding partners. As the preferred florist and decorator, Celebrations Design Group showcased how magnificent flowers and decorations can take a room to that magical level. Images complements of Foschi Photography. Waterfall is a unique space to create a diverse range of inspirations. Tom met with several engaged couples who are planning their wedding at Waterfall including one bride & groom with a Hollywood theme that certainly will be fun to bring to life!

Nothing defines modern and chic these days more than a lounge for your event. Celebrations Design Group boasts the latest hot fad. Including a room or designated area of trend-setting lounge furniture and simple decorations creates a relaxing atmosphere. It provides the perfect place to escape the party and hold a conversation or just put your feet up. Ideal for serving dessert or even a cigar bar. We recently furnished the Chase Center on the Riverfront with a lounge and glistening candlelight. Utilizing contemporary white leather furniture complemented with chrome & glass top tables, the room was transformed into an alluring environment for all guests. Specialty lighting provided by Riverfront AV staff was the perfect complement to enhance the mood. We truly enjoy working at The Chase Center on the Riverfront due to its extreme versatility; offering a wide range of possibilities for the creative mind. The outcome was the result of a great collaborative effort by seasoned professionals.

The Miss Greater Wilmington Scholarship program put on a spectacular pageant Sunday at Harry’s Savoy Ballroom. Celebrations Design Group was proud to be included as a new sponsor providing majestic bouquets of red and white roses for the winners. Here, Tom Covello is pictured delivering the roses to Miss Delaware Outstanding Teen 2010, Katelynne Mayers for the award ceremony accompanied by Howard Gordon and Bobbey Biddle. Check out Miss Greater Wilmington for the 2011 winners. We take great pride in our support of local organizations and look forward to supporting the Miss Greater Wilmington Scholarship program with magnificent bouquets for many more events.

Quinceañeras

The word “quince” in Spanish means fifteen. For many young girls with Hispanic or Latino roots it is also symbolic of a very important milestone. Traditionally, turning fifteen represents the transition from girl to woman and is often marked with a celebration called a Quinceanera (keen-say-ah-NYAIR-ah).

The Quinceanera represents the journey of the celebrant from a girl to a woman and traditionally focuses on God, family, music, food and dance. The custom varies from culture to culture and has evolved through the years but the meaning remains the same. For families that have migrated away from their country it is especially important to pass on these customs and rituals to help preserve their rich heritage.

One of the traditions is for the quince to choose a small group of family and friends (often a symbolic 15 people) to serve as her Court of Honor. The Quince often even wears a tiara and a formal gown reminiscent of a princess. One of the items CDG has created to help the guest of honor feel special is a throne. The back of the throne is finished to look like rich dark wood with beautiful scrollwork. The back panel and skirt of the chair are covered with fabric that can be changed to match the color or decor of the party.

Hooray for Hollywood!

The lights, the sparkle, the stars! There is just something about Hollywood that draws you in and keeps you coming back. That’s exactly what happened with the Delaware Prevention Network Alliance (DPNA). The DPNA’s All Star Program works with local organizations to motivate young people to stay away from drugs and high-risk behavior and inspire them to develop positive lifestyles.

Last year the DPNA hired to Celebrations looking for décor for their annual All Star event with keynote speaker Raven Simone. We designed the décor to make the kids feel like stars so the Hollywood theme was just right. CDG was hired to repeat the glam-o-rama spectacular again this summer. Both events were held at the Downtown Doubletree in Wilmington which was well-suited to hold the attendance of over 500 teens. The stage décor included replicas of the famous Walk of Fame Stars on Hollywood Boulevard and a variety of centerpieces straight out of Hollywood.
